GREAT MYLES'S. 1 1881 map of area
A manor in its own right, the estate in 1838 consisted of 417 acres and extended into Stondon Massey. The large house at Great Myles's was demolished in 1837, and all that remained was the stable block, servants wing and outbuildings. In 1871, the estate was owned by Colonel John Fane of Barnes.

Part of the Great Myles's estate, it stood at the entrance to the estate where it served as a gate house. It was probably built at the beginning of the 19th century.

KELVEDON HALL. 4 1881 map of area
The Kelvedon Hall Estate was the principle manor in the parish. In 1838, it consisted of 880 acres. Edward C. Wright had only recently inherited the estate from his uncle John Wright who had died in 1865. The family were of important standing in the Roman Catholic community. There was a chapel in Kelvedon Hall which was used by the family and servants. St. Nicholas' Church was situated in the grounds of the hall.

LANGFORD BRIDGE FARM. 5 1881 map of area
Also known locally as Cases Farm after the tenant farmer who lived there in the early part of the century. It was part of the Kelvedon Hall Estate. The farm was moved to its present position and re-built between 1777 and 1805. The original site was some 400 yards to the east. James French and his family lived there for almost 20 years. His brother, John, farmed Germains Farm. James was a church warden, and in 1875 he was a founder member of the Kelvedon Hatch School Board. At the time of the census the 155 acres were farmed by 8 men and 1 boy.

Part of the Kelvedon Hall Estate. It was sold to the Wright family in 1604. It is a 16th century building with later alterations. The farm was approximately 242 acres. The 1871, the tenant, John French, was a church warden and was a founding member of the school board in 1875. His brother, James, farmed Langford Bridge Farm. The farm employed 6 men and 2 boys.
