Lord Sebastian Coe, chairman of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and former Olympic Medal winner, explored his grandmother’s side of the family, and in particular, his ancestors’ ownership of a slave plantation in Jamaica.

Because his male ancestors were wealthy landowners, he was extremely lucky to have portraits of at least four of his descendants covering four generations.

What was interesting, however, was that most of the programme still relied on many of the principal and most important sources of information for any family history researcher.
