I have previous mentioned the excellent war-time diaries of Eric J. Rudsdale; at the time of the Second World War he was the Curator’s Assistant at Colchester Castle Museum. His diaries have been published daily in blog format: WW2: A Civilian in the Second World War.

Extracts are still being published on the blog, but as the diaries extend to over half a million words, further extracts are now available in print. E.J. Rudsdale’s Journals of Wartime Colchester is published by The History Press.
