The Effects of sensational literature
George Wright, 16, described as a clerk, was charged with breaking and entering the dwelling-house of Hester Wright, a widow, living next door to where prisoner resided, and stealing therefrom a gold watch.
The prisoner pleaded guilty, and it was stated that he had been ruined by reading boys' literature of a sensational character.
Prisoner sentenced to four months' imprisonement with hard labour.
